J ROY CHAMPION
Jamaal Roy, professionally known as J Roy Champion, is an artist who was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. As a youth he was exposed to many genres of music. Even with that, his musical influences from the beginning were from within the home. His mom and grandmother had wonderful singing voices. His father was also a DJ who had made a name for himself within the city in the 80’s and 90’s.
It took years for young Champ to seriously acknowledge the art behind the craft that he claims today! Fast forward to several school yard battles, talent shows and mixtapes later; He landed himself a spot in one of the most notable rap groups in the Boston area for that time period, The Famous Nobodies. After nearly two years with the crew, and in spite of being a founding member he found himself in a position where carrying on as a solo act was his best, and only option.
Having released his sixth retail project to date, his focus now is on his own brand, remaining fresh, and redefining himself as a fan of Hip Hop culture and creator of Hip Hop music.
In 2021, J Roy Champion began to see the bigger picture, a world beyond music. He launched a lifestyle brand that he calls the Yaat Club Endvr through which he offers a number of clothing items, accessories and even snacks. From within that he spent the first year in business giving charitable contributions to various entities such as Boston Public Schools and the Cancer Association in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, through an extension of Yaat Club that he calls Yaat Club Cares. Such donations were both in the form of monetary gifts, as well as other tangibles from within the Yaat Club Capsules, and school supplies. To meet these needs, his and other businesses from within the city pooled resources to ensure that the goal was met.
